What's been happening.......
2010 was a very busy year, with plenty of variety, and a bit of globe trotting too. The year started with me mid way through a project for Tiger Aspect trying to find a country that Justin Lee Collins could represent at this years Eurovision Song Contest, which went out in May on Five. Work then took a more sober turn with a film for Matchlight Productions for BBC Three, following the progress of a teenage soldier who lost three limbs in Afghanistan. In May my OB skills had a workout, covering the debates that preceded this years General Election for ITN.
I then went on to explore the Democratic Republic of Congo with Ross Kemp, for a one hour film for Tiger Aspect, to be shown this year on Sky One as part of the new Ross Kemp - Extreme Worlds series. I've also been to Japan where I was lucky (?) enough to eat live squid in Hokkaido with Justin Lee Collins for a 3 x 1 hour project called Justin Lee Collins - Turning Japanese again for Tiger Aspect to be shown on Five at the end of January.
The last few months of the year were mainly spent in Afghanistan, embedded with troops in Helmand and the Sangin Valley. I can't say too much about the project, but it was very interesting, technically challenging and physically demanding but very rewarding. I returned with my sound kit and I intact, in time to take some time off for Christmas.
2011 has started with a project for Fever Media to be shown on Channel Four, and there are a few other projects waiting to be commissioned, so looks like another busy year. Plenty of days free in the diary though, so email or call me if you have a project you want to talk to me about.
