2012 - That was the year that was!
2012 was one of the busiest years I can remember, thanks to some old clients and some new ones. Highlights of the year are, in no particular order,
Jennifer Saunders 'Back in the Saddle'. Two one hour films for Spun Gold/ITV One, charting Jennifer's return to the world of Equestrian Eventing.
Linda's Story was a film for MAC-TV/BBC Alba documenting the return to Afghanistan of the parents of killed Aid Worker Linda Norgrove, and following them on their journey to visit projects set up in Linda's memory.
The Para-Orchestra, a one hour film for What Larks/Channel 4 that featured an orchestra made up solely of disables musicians. The orchestra was founded by Charles Hazlewood and the film followed his, and the orchestra's, journey to their first live performance.
The Flower Pot Gang. I worked on one part of a four part series, notable mainly for being shot about 15 minutes from my house, whilst it wasn't the kind of thing I'd normally watch, I had a great time making it (apart from the rain!) and I really enjoyed watching it too.
The Stone Roses - Made of Stone. I apologise in advance to all my other clients, but this film (Warp Films-Shane Meadows) was, and will probably always be the best job I have ever done. Shane Meadows is my favourite director and The Stone Roses are my favourite band, so when I got the call to do this job, I was pretty happy! The film will be out sometime this year, watch it. It'll be amazing.
The Olympics - London 2012. Well, not sure where to start with this one, you probably saw it on the telly, I was there! I spent a month in London for NBC News, one of my best clients, who it's always a pleasure to work with. I luckily managed to not spend too much time vox popping sweaty athletes, and got to do some really interesting features stuff instead. See my blog for all of the links.
George Clarkes Amazing Spaces. This Plum Productions/Channel 4 series was great to work on, I didn't do the whole series, my friend Tim Pitot did most of it, but when they came up North, Tim asked me to help, and I was happy to do so.
Grand Designs. No introduction necessary, when I met Kevin he told me his favourite Sound Man joke, it was quite funny actually!
Other notable productions I was happy to be a part of were: Celebrity Wedding Planner, Fabulous Baker Brothers, Rip Off Britain, plus countless other shorter projects including weekend in a caravan with Charlotte Church shooting a sitcom pilot, a trip to Switzerland in search of the Yeti, a night in a supposedly haunted Hampton Court Palace, a couple of trips to a village in France that was supposed to be the only spot on earth to survive the end of the world, and countless others that have slipped my mind.
2013 has started well, stay tuned to my blog for some stories as and when they happen.
